Hey guys,

I've been working on something new for the FIFA/PES fans out there: the Kickoff Arena. You play your team in 3D, in your browser, in real time against other managers. Before anyone worries: this is a totally parallel feature, it will not replace the match engine or change your normal matches in any way.

It's now at the point where I need to see how the server copes with several matches running at the same time, so I'm looking for testers. If you have a PC and a decent internet connection:

Go to https://kickoffboss.com/arena.php
Click "Look for match" and keep the page open, it pairs you with the next manager in the queue
When a match is found, open your invite and ready up (you have 5 minutes)
Matches are two 3-minute halves, played with your actual selected team and players.

Controls:

Move: WASD or arrow keys, Shift to sprint
X: pass / press when defending
Space: shoot
Q: through ball · E: cross
C: switch player · V: tackle · F: body feint

You can change these ingame.

A few notes: this is an early test build, so expect rough edges. The server is in Europe for now, so if you're playing from further away you might feel some lag, that is exactly the kind of thing I want to hear about. Post here with anything you run into (bugs, lag, low FPS) and roughly where you're playing from.

Thanks!

The match search is very slow; I spent about 16 minutes waiting and it didn't connect me to a match. I think this is because the server is located in Europe.

@MR.AFTON its possible there was no one else in the queue for you to play with.

- Is it possible to add a pop-up when the game finds an opponent?

- I've already tested the gamepad, and all the buttons work. However, it seems like the joystick for player movement has a longer response time than the keyboard.

- My ping is around 57 ms, but there are quite a few spikes up to 90 ms–120 ms.

- I played against an opponent wearing a very similar white jersey.

- My alternate kit in another game was black—the same color as the referee’s—and I couldn’t tell them apart.

@nicmo If it is well organized, could tournaments be held there?

It’s a cool idea, but the server is incredibly laggy—even though I have 35ms ping. Sometimes the ball bounces off the players so awkwardly that you can't tell if you've actually gained possession or not, and there’s a huge delay in responding to shots , passes and switch players.

50 ms response, moves are good, passes work but are slow to react, shoot power is slow to see, switching works, crosses works, sprint works, tackles are slow to perform. Some games freeze at corner play or one time at kick from the goal and it did not continue. I am running Chromium / Debian.
