Captain bonus proportional

Currently, if the 2 captains have very similar experience, one gets 5% bonus and the other nothing. And what happens when both have equal experience, or captain points?

Suggestion is to make the captain bonus proportional to the differences between the captain's experience (by %, experience capped to 400 or captain points), on a range between 0 and 5 % (or something a bit higher, as normally captains have similar experience).

0 would be when both are equal, and and 5% bonus (max) would be when one has experience and the other one has 0%. For the in between I have 2 options:

  1. The bonus is proportional to the % of captain points between the 2 captains. For example, if captain A has 40, captain B has 60, which sums to 100, then team B gets 3% bonus (60% of max bonus). I prefer this.
  2. The bonus is proportional to the difference between the captains, relative to the max captain points. G Assume that max is 500, if captain A has 450 and captain B has 500 points (the max), then team B gets 0.5% bonus, as the difference of 50 is 10% of the max, and so they get 10% of the max bonus. 

Players spawn positions

In documentation it says: "it will have a 20% chance of spawning as a goalkeeper, 35% a defender or midfielder and 20% of being a striker".

Current proportions don't sum up to 100% and aren't realistic for a squad, as it gives more keepers than needed (double or more).

Taking a simple example of the squad of Portugal to the Euro 2026, it had 3 GK, 9 defenders, 7 midfielders and 7 forwarders, which sums up to the max of 26. In this case the proportions are GK 11.5% D 34.6, F and S 26.9 each. 

Also, on usual lineups of 442, with the other ones averaging to about the same, GK are 9%, D and M are 36% each, and S are 18%.

My proposal is to get 10% GK, 35% of defenders, 35% of midfielders and 20% of strikers. Which is probably what we have, with the GK corrected.

The proportion between teams can vary a bit, players can play in different positions, but this can give us an idea of the proportions.

Yea, cap the captain points possible so, everyone can have same point even if others manage to stay longer in national cups or international competitions. This is by far the worst idea, it will get to a point where the only diff is made by age and inf trait. There shouldnt  be a cap, who manage to wins national cup + international competition should have a reward for his progress by getting more xp. 

Making the bonus to be proportional with the difference works as long as there are no caps.

I agree with the proportional bonus without limits, experience has no limits but I find 5% absurd, perhaps for a few points.

@adrian your idea would be great if only new players (bought from the game) will be taken under this rule, and i totally agree this point

For now people use as a captain spawned players, so you cannot treat it in the way you described

+1 to booth, something needs to change about the big difference that a captain does

 

Home advantage is a real thing, captain bonus dosen t exist IRL, at least make it a difference please

Curent mecanic of captain bonus is a big fail.

Even if you have much better AvQ players in team , you need to use a low AvQ player for 15 mins to take 5% captain bonus, only because  he has more games played.  (1/3 subs only for this)

Reality:

Real Madrid sign Ashley Young - Everton FC (39 years) and use him first team only for 15 mins instead of using Jude Bellingham.

In point. And everyone do this because of the captain rule, just to get 5%.

That's abnormal and should be removed immediately.

@Loretty I 100% agree, that's kind of ridiculous, it definitely doesn't help to capture the interest of the new users. Trying to be realistic is the way! Otherwise, the typical football manager game users won't consider playing KOB, it will be seen as a weird game.

First, if the bonus has to stay, it would be good to recompute the best captain's bonus whenever a captain is subbed.

That said, I'm especially against the "5% or nothing" for whoever has 1 leadership point more than the opponent; it just happened to me in the match on 18 September, I've got a 5% bonus for just 1-point difference in leadership. 

The concept of the captain bonus itself can be good to give market appeal to the old players, but it has to be revised. Imagine the derby FCInter-ACMilan with Zanetti and Maldini. Wouldn't it be weird to think that just one of them gives a bonus to his teammates?
Here is an alternative proposal for the captain bonus: max out the Experience to a higher value (400 is too easy to obtain, maybe something around 1000 since the League plus Continental competitions group already give 90). Then, compute the leadership as it is now, but give a bonus proportional to the actual value compared to the theoretical maximum for BOTH teams. In this case, the maximum would be 2038+20% for INF, which equals a 5% bonus (or even more, since we are basically working on differences in this case)

This way, you still need a good captain in your team, otherwise your opponent can have a high bonus and you have a smaller bonus, but if the difference is neglectable (let's say the same EXP but 1 year older) also the bonus difference is neglectable. Plus, you can count on a more steady bonus (just like moral and formation experience) and be able to always rely on it. No more huge bonus for tiny leadership differences... that's weird!

I treid it and spawned 3 new 4* players ....

1 Defender

 

Im a bit disapointed how big the the real big first day investors advantage is ....

At least make a 2nd roll possible or a give it back for 80% of the value or something.

 

In real you can look for the talent you like as well ....

 

 

and it cant be that the chance of a Goalkeeper is like 66% or higher ....

I think that at least it is right to be able to choose the role (for example defender) just as I think it is right that the position is random (DL, DC, DR) just as I would think it is right that there were also three positions for the attackers (SL, SC and SR).

For me the first thing to change about captain bonus is to forbid change after only 15 minutes.  Have you ever seen a real football match in which the coach have decided, before the start of the match, that he will make a substitution after only 15 minutes, no matter what happens on the field ?
