Retirement player market

Hi guys, can you explain me why are there a lot of offers, often very big, for players that will retire in 1 or 2 seasons? I don't understand why to spend a lot of gold for a 10-20 days player.

Maybe someone is willing to spend few euros to win league or get promoted..

Lots of managers overvalue their players and rarely get to sell as a result...
