I've always wondered about a few things in the match engine:

1. How much do red cards actually matter?
You'd expect a team playing with 10, or especially 9, men to become much more defensive. Yet I've often seen teams with one or even two players sent off continue attacking normally and scoring goals as if nothing happened.

2. Why do one-sided games seem to "freeze" after a certain score?
When there's a big gap in quality, matches often go quickly to 4-0 or 5-0. Then the second half becomes a goalkeeper highlight reel, with chance after chance being saved and almost no further goals. If huge scorelines are intentionally being limited, wouldn't it be more natural to spread the goals throughout the match?

3. Why does halftime not happen at halftime?
In the live match view, when the halftime screen appears, I click to continue, and then more actions take place before the referee actually blows for halftime. Is this a bug, a visual issue, or working as intended?

Just curious about how these mechanics work behind the scenes!

Point 2 is what I've noticed also. Lots of games scoring 4-5 goals in the first half and none at the second. It is odd.

About second point, i read time ago about an update that players slow down the rhythm in case they score a lot of goals
